Artist Statement:
I discovered the art of book making in 2001 at my local Community College. It was like coming home. I found I could employ all the skills and media I loved but was never satisfied to stay with just one of them. As a professional graphic designer, I loved paper, type and composition.
I now synthesize design, writing, calligraphy, paper making, painting, drawing, engineering, sculpture, computer graphics and craftsmanship into a whole that becomes a symphony of comment on my life and surroundings.
One of my roommates was mentoring troubled teens by teaching them to make paper. I observed and was hooked.
I specialize in recycled materials and natural fibers making sheets up to 11'x 17'. I do cards, envelopes, sheet and paper art.
The paper art is duplexes with pressed flowers and sometimes lizards, constructions and collage. They must be seen to be loved.
Recently I did several posts of 'Money Paper' using REAL currency as an inclusion.
